General Submission Guidelines

Shannon Road Press publlshes only Mystery Fiction unless a specific Call For Submissions states otherwise.

We publish quality short stories and novels with special emphasis given to talented new writers.

We do not require authors to have an agent.  If you have one already, fine, but it is not a requirement for submissions.  Our contracts are simple and straightforward enough for me to understand them.  If I can, you can.

Manuscripts must be submitted in MS Word or a text format compatible with Word.

At this time we are accepting only queries for first mystery novels.  Queries should include a biography, brief synopsis and approximate word count. 

Novels may be on any (mystery) subject, and should have a strong plot with vivid, well-drawn characters.  Though not essential, we prefer endings where the "good guys" win.  Please, no tragedies, no cliches, no caricatures.  No plots where children or animals come to harm.

If a manuscript is accepted, a standard book contract will be issued.  We pay a twenty percent (20%) royalty on net earnings; advances against royalties will vary on an individual basis. 

We publish both hardcopy and softcopy editions of each work unless otherwise noted in a specific contract.
